Ardence

Ardence is a technology that allows you to boot servers or workstations from centralised disk image files stored on the network instead of each server having its own drive. You can boot a computer to almost any operating system without a physical hard disk drive being present.

add3 see Ardence as a perfect fit for a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution, or an environment where consistency is key; such as a Citrix / Terminal Server farms , schools, universities or call centre's. Ardence can also give you a low risk upgrade path to a new operating system such as Windows Vista.

Organisations can add new servers and re-provision existing ones simply by pointing them to a new disk file on the network. It also means that if problems with a device can be resolved by rebooting the machine at anytime to reset them to their "gold" image.

add3 has officially trained consultants with real life experience of implementing Ardence. As an example, one of our projects for a financial institution provided them with a common image for their 30 server Citrix Farm to ensure consistency across the environment. The Ardence solution is currently being extended to the desktop to enable VDI plans.
